Privacy Policy
Effective October 18, 2026
Glint is a quiz app for iPhone, iPad and Android. It is operated by The Expressionary LLC ("we", "us"), the data controller responsible for the information described in this policy. This policy explains what Glint collects, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have.

Information we collect
Glint needs an account. Account information and app activity are linked to that account. Providers also receive the technical information described below to operate their services.
Account and profile
- Email address and how you sign in (email and password, Google, or Apple). If you use Google or Apple, they tell us your email address and the name on that account. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider.
- Display name and username, which you choose, and an internal account ID.
- Date of birth, which is required and used to check that you are 13 or older.
- Gender and interests, both optional. Interests are used to suggest topics.
- Profile photo, if you choose to upload one instead of using a built-in avatar. See "Profile photos" below.
What you do in the app
- Quiz activity: the quizzes you start and finish, scores, questions you answered correctly, saved quizzes, XP, Sparks, streaks, Daily Quests and badges.
- Topics you type into search, which are used to create your quiz and to show your recent topics. Topic names are also added to Glint's shared topic catalogue, so a topic you searched for can be suggested to other players. The catalogue does not show who searched for it.
- Friends and social activity: friend requests, your friends list, and the nudges, gifts and challenges you send or receive.
- Reports and blocks: if you report another player, we keep the report, who made it and who it is about. If you block a player, we keep that so the block can be applied.
- Reports about questions: if you report a problem with a question, we keep the question, the answer options, the answer you gave, the reason you chose and anything you wrote.
- Feedback messages you send from Help & Feedback, together with your email address, username and display name so that we can reply.
- Settings, such as sound, haptics and which notifications you want.
Purchases
- Subscription records for Glint Plus: which plan you bought, the store's transaction identifier (for Google Play, a hashed version of the purchase token), start, renewal and expiry dates, whether it is a free trial, and whether it has been cancelled or refunded. We also keep a count of the new quizzes you have used in the current period.
- Apple and Google take the payment. Your card or other payment details never reach Glint.
Notifications
- Push notification token: when you are signed in, the app asks Apple's and Google's push services for a token that identifies your device, and we store it with the platform (iOS or Android) and the notification permission status your device last reported to us. This can happen whether or not you allow notifications, so a token may be stored even if you choose not to receive them. We only send push notifications to a device whose last reported permission status is allowed, and only for the notification types switched on in your in-app settings. When you sign out from your profile, the app asks us to revoke that device's token; if that request cannot be made, for example because you are offline, the token may stay active until it is replaced, rejected by Apple or Google, or deleted with your account.
- Notification diagnostics: the status of the last notification delivered to your device, including its title and text and any error, so that delivery problems can be fixed.
Technical information
- Our hosting provider records standard request information such as IP address, time, and device and app details when the app talks to our servers. We use it to keep the service running and secure.
- Your device's time zone offset, so that streaks follow your local day. The free allowance of three new quizzes resets at midnight UTC, which may differ from midnight in your time zone. Glint Plus allowances reset each subscription month, including on annual plans.
- Counts of how many quiz and photo requests your account has made, used to enforce limits and prevent abuse.
What Glint does not collect
Glint has no ads. It does not use an advertising ID, and it contains no third-party analytics or tracking tools. Glint does not access your location, your contacts or your microphone. It asks for access to your photo library only when you pick a profile photo, and receives only the picture you choose. Motion sensor readings are used on your device for visual effects and are never sent to us.
Profile photos
If you upload a profile photo, the cropped image is sent to our server and checked by an automated AI moderation step before it can appear on your profile. For that check, the image alone, with no name, email address or account ID attached, is sent through OpenRouter to an AI vision model. Only photos that pass are stored. Rejected photos are not stored, and we do not keep the model's description of any photo. For approved photos we keep the image, a fingerprint (hash) of the file and which version of the screening rules approved it.
Approved profile photos are visible to other players and are stored at a public web address, so anyone with the address can view the image.
What other players can see
Other signed-in players can see your display name, username, avatar or profile photo, interests, level, XP, total score, current streak, number of quizzes completed and number of friends. This appears in search, friends lists, leaderboards and challenges. They cannot see your email address, date of birth, gender, purchases or saved quizzes. When you send a friend request, nudge, gift or challenge, the other player receives a notification showing your display name and username.
How we use information
We use the information above to create and secure your account; check that you are old enough to use Glint; generate quizzes on the topics you ask for; save your progress and sync it between devices; run friends, challenges and leaderboards; unlock Glint Plus and apply its limits; send the notifications you have turned on; screen profile photos; review reports and enforce our Terms of Use; answer support requests; prevent abuse; and comply with the law.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
AI-generated quizzes
Quiz questions and explanations are written by AI models. When you ask for a quiz, our server sends the topic you typed, the difficulty, the number of questions and the text of questions to avoid repeating through OpenRouter to OpenAI for quiz generation. We use Anthropic's Claude model through OpenRouter to classify topics and review quiz content for safety. Your name, email address, date of birth and account ID are not included in those requests; our server may add safety instructions that depend on an age group (under 18 or 18 and over) worked out from the birthday you gave us. We configure OpenRouter to route generation requests only to OpenAI and classification and safety-review requests only to Anthropic, with provider fallbacks disabled and providers that may train on these requests excluded. These routing settings do not mean that no data is retained for other purposes, such as security or abuse prevention. The app never contacts an AI provider directly. Generated questions are stored in a shared question bank so they can be reused for other players.
Because the topic text is sent to these providers, please do not type personal or confidential information into the topic search.
Who processes information for us
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. These companies process information on our behalf so that Glint can work:
- Supabase: sign-in, database, file storage and the server functions behind the app.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Apple's push notification service on Apple devices: delivering push notifications. They receive your push token and the content of the notification.
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to (OpenAI for quiz generation; Anthropic for topic classification and content review; a vision model for profile photo screening): as described in the two sections above.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, if you choose "Sign in with Apple" or Google sign-in; and purchases. Our server confirms your subscription with the App Store or Google Play using the store's transaction identifier.
- Google Fonts: the app downloads its typefaces from Google's font servers, which receive your IP address and standard request information. No account information is sent.
- Cloudflare: hosting this website.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect players or the service, or as part of a merger, sale or other transfer of the business. If that happens, this policy continues to apply to information already collected.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information and progress for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, almost all of it is deleted straight away; the exceptions are listed on the account deletion page. Copies held in our hosting provider's backups and logs are removed on that provider's schedule rather than immediately.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Glint account and its data at any time:
- In the app: open the Account tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account, then confirm.
- Without the app: email support@oneglint.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We complete these requests within 30 days.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Glint Plus subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account first. The full steps, what is deleted and the few things that are kept are on the account deletion page.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers, access to each player's data is restricted by the database, and the keys for AI and billing services are kept on the server, not in the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Children's privacy
You must be 13 or older to use Glint. The app asks for a date of birth when you set up your account and does not let anyone under 13 continue. Glint is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us at support@oneglint.app and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
In the app you can change your display name, username, avatar, interests and settings; turn each kind of notification on or off; sign out; and delete your account. You can turn off notifications and photo access in your device settings at any time.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland
We rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running your account and the features you use); our legitimate interests in keeping Glint secure, preventing abuse and handling reports; your consent, where we ask for it (push notifications and photo access, which you can withdraw in your device settings); and compliance with legal obligations.
You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable form. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you live in California
In the past 12 months we have collected the categories described above: identifiers (email address, username, account ID, push token), personal details you give us (display name, date of birth, gender), purchase records, in-app activity, and photos and messages you submit. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may ask to know what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected and to have it deleted. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
How to make a request
Email support@oneglint.app from the email address on your account and tell us what you would like. We may ask for information to confirm that the request comes from the account holder. We respond within 30 days. We honor these requests wherever you live.
International processing
The Expressionary LLC is based in the United States. We and our providers process information in the United States and in other countries where those providers operate, which may have data protection laws different from those where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or by other appropriate means.
